What is a legacy?

The decedent may bequeath some specific assets and rights to the person of his choice. These assets are set apart, these will not be divided among the inheritors.

The decedent can only make a legacy through a will, where it shall be expressly provided.

The legacies shall not be made in prejudice of the mandatory heirs, otherwise their amount shall be reduced.

A legacy can be repudiated by its beneficiary
